Emma is an experienced Psychotherapist and Registered Mental Health Nurse working within an NHS, Adult Gender Identity and Psychosexual clinic. Emma provides psychotherapeutic, evidence-based interventions to couples and individuals experiencing sexual difficulties, including those experiencing co-occurring mental and physical health conditions.
Emma is aware that engaging in therapy can be an unfamiliar and daunting prospect for many, especially when coming to discuss issues as intimate as sex. Her passion is to support people in identifying and expressing their most vulnerable thoughts and feelings, through the provision of a professional, warm and respectful space. Emma aims to understand her client’s problems and goals, and to work towards these in a collaborative, clear and efficient fashion.
Emma’s clinical background includes working with people experiencing common mental health problems such as Depression and Anxiety as well as those living with Severe and Enduring Mental Illness. She is experienced in working with Neurodiversity and can adapt therapy techniques to meet the needs of the individual. Emma is a full member of the British Association of Gender Identity Specialists and has a thorough working knowledge of the particular challenges people who are transitioning or have transitioned face, as well as the potential impact on their relationships.
