I am a qualified and BACP-registered therapeutic counsellor currently undertaking specialist training in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy. I work with individuals and couples experiencing difficulties affecting their relationships, emotional wellbeing, self-esteem and sex lives.
My approach is integrative, which means we can explore both your current experiences and how earlier experiences may be influencing the way you feel, relate and respond today. I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on your individual needs, working collaboratively to develop greater understanding of the difficulties you are experiencing and the changes you would like to make.
Alongside my private practice experience, I have worked within the NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme, providing short-term, solution-focused therapy. I am also currently undertaking a specialist placement within an NHS sexual health service, supporting individuals and couples experiencing sexual and relationship difficulties.
My professional background was originally in language teaching, where communication and finding different ways of understanding and expressing ourselves are central. Originally from Germany, I have lived and worked in the US, France and Japan. These experiences have helped shape my intercultural perspective and my appreciation of the different backgrounds, values and experiences people bring to therapy.
Within my psychosexual and relationship work, I support people experiencing concerns including low or absent sexual desire, painful sex and vaginismus, erectile and ejaculation difficulties, anxiety and avoidance, body image and sexual confidence. I also work with relationship difficulties including communication, conflict, infidelity, loss and navigating relationships across different cultural backgrounds.
I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship provides the foundation for meaningful change. My aim is to offer a safe, accepting and confidential space where thoughts, feelings, desires and fears can be explored openly and without judgement. Alongside our therapeutic work, I may use psychoeducation and insights from neuroscience to help you better understand what you are experiencing, identify opportunities for change and explore where acceptance may also be important.
