ABOUT US
The Therapy Yard comprises a team of experienced therapists who offer support to individuals and couples seeking to explore and overcome a wide range of life, relationship, and sexual issues.
Our team includes counsellors and therapists who work with a broad spectrum of concerns. In particular, many focus on specialist areas within the fields of relationship and psychosexual (sex) therapy. Moreover, our associates engage in continuous professional development to ensure that The Therapy Yard remains at the forefront of current knowledge and expertise in our specialist field.
Consequently, all our associates have either completed or are currently pursuing relevant degrees or diplomas. In addition, they regularly attend CPD sessions, seminars, and conferences related to their practice. Some also contribute to the field through teaching, while others are active media contributors.
At The Therapy Yard, we believe therapy should be accessible to everyone. Therefore, associate therapists in their final year of training offer low-cost sessions, making therapy more affordable for those on lower incomes. We also provide discounts for students and key workers to further support accessibility.
Getting started is simple. All you need to do is submit a self-referral through our website, and we will carefully match you with the right practitioner to meet your needs.

RELATIONSHIP
THERAPY
This is a therapy that focuses on understanding and navigating relationships to enable us to understand more about ourselves, and our relationships with others. It can help to work through difficulties when in crisis or to work more in-depth to gain the understanding and tools for happier, healthier relationships.

CHOOSE HOW YOU’D LIKE TO GET STARTED
Choose the approach that works best for you. Browse our therapists yourself, or let us help you narrow down the options.
OUR THERAPISTS
Our therapists may have different areas they specialise in or may use different theoretical approaches e.g. CBT, psychodynamic, person-centric, and integrative. The rapport and therapeutic relationship you have with a counsellor/therapist is key to achieving positive outcomes. As such, we think it’s essential that you choose the therapist that you would like to see – we are of course on hand to guide you to therapists depending on the issues you would like to work on. We are also able to offer low cost therapy with trainee therapists who are in their final year of training.

HOW IT WORKS
Therapy takes place in a confidential and non-judgemental space, with therapists who are not only qualified but also deeply passionate about helping people. Importantly, it offers an opportunity to work through difficulties, gain a better understanding of yourself and your situation, and, over time, find effective ways to cope, heal, grow, and improve the way you feel.
At times, we may not know why we’re feeling the way we do, nor how to take the next steps toward a happier, more balanced life. In such cases, we might not have considered how counselling or psychotherapy could help. However, talking with a therapist—sharing your thoughts and emotions—can bring clarity and help make sense of what you’re experiencing. Talking to and sharing your thoughts and feelings with a therapist, can help to make more sense of what is happening and together find a way to work through it.
We also recognize how challenging it can be to find time within busy schedules. For this reason, we have therapists available for appointments throughout the week—including daytime, evenings, and weekends—to offer flexibility and convenience.

The Therapy Yard is a service that connects people in search of therapy to a suitable therapist, whether that’s online telehealth counselling and psychotherapy, or other therapeutic and psychological services.

BEDROOM DILEMAS: 11 THINGS A SEX THERAPIST WANTS YOU TO KNOW
(GOOD HOUSEKEEPING)
Ever wondered what the most common reason people book to see one is? Well, you’re in luck, because we sat down with Miranda Christophers, founder of The Therapy Yard, who describes herself as a ‘sex-positive and kink-informed’ sex and relationships therapist.
‘EROTIC AND REALLY CONNECTING’: HOW SEX GAMES (NOT TOYS) CAN IMPROVE YOUR RELATIONSHIP
(GOOD HOUSEKEEPING)
Miranda says some of her clients can find talking about sex and their sexual preferences awkward, but that games can ‘give the opportunity to keep things light, playful and offer space for discovery.’
SEX IS DYING OUT. THIS IS WHY IT MATTERS.
(THE TELEGRAPH)
Miranda Christophers, a sex and relationship therapist, often hears from clients in couples that they are simply too busy to have sex. “They don’t have as much sex because there’s just not enough time. Economic, political pressures and worries that people have – I think these can all intrude on pleasure.”
AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT, I DIDN’T JUST WANT TO HAVE SEX AGAIN. I WANTED TO ENJOY IT.
(BRITISH VOGUE)
“Everyone responds to trauma differently, but an avoidance of sex is something I commonly hear from clients,” Miranda Christophers, a sex and relationships psychotherapist, tells me.
CHANNEL 4’S VIRGIN ISLAND PUSHES BOUDARIES – BUT WHAT IS SEX THERAPY
(YAHOO LIFE)
To better understand what sex therapy actually entails, Yahoo UK spoke with College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) accredited psychosexual and relationship therapist Miranda Christophers.
DESPERATE TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT SOMEONE YOU FANCY? THE 51 MUST-ASK QUESTIONS
(COSMOPOLITAN)
“It’s important to ask questions to get to know someone you are interested in dating, as it allows you to find out more about them, shows genuine interest, and can help to build conversation, rapport, connection, enjoyment, understanding, and trust,” says relationship psychotherapist Miranda Christophers.
‘HOW HEALTHY IS YOUR SEX LIFE? DO OUR QUIZ TO FIND OUT ’
(THE TELEGRAPH)
One of the most common presentations I see, regardless of age, is a desire discrepancy – a mismatch in sexual desire,” says Christophers, a sex and relationship psychotherapist, co-founder and clinical director of The Therapy Yard.
